          A joint initiative called Our Stories, which makes personal stories available online, in many languages, to preserve and share the history and identity of cultures around the world has been launched by Internet search engine company Google, UNICEF and One Laptop per Child (OLPC), a non-profit association.          Children will be able to record stories of elders, family members and friends in their native languages using recording devices such as laptops and mobile phones. The stories will then be shared through the Our Stories website, which can be found at http://www.ourstories.org, where theycan be located via a Google Map.
          OLPC said it will provide easy-to-use technology for children in developing countries to enable them to record their stories and interviews, with its XO laptop serving as a tool for sharing and collaboration.
          The project aims to contribute to an improved understanding of shared humanity, across cultures, countries, languages, religious traditions and generations. It will initially include stories recorded for UNICEF by young people in Uganda, Ghana, Tanzania and Pakistan, along with stories collected by Brazil's Museum of the Person, with more stories to be added each month.
